Director of Finance

The ManKind Project USA

The ManKind Project USA is currently hiring a Director of Finance to join our Lead Operating Circle who has the experience and drive to take a vibrant nonprofit organization to the next level. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization. As a Director, this person will oversee a team to manage the central financial operations in a complex multi-chapter organization, and will help craft the next generation of systems to support the vision and mission of the ManKind Project USA.

The Director of Finance communicates the financial vision throughout the Project and leads the finance team in providing impeccable service throughout MKP-USA. He is responsible for the coordination of the organization’s financial records, and day-to-day financial matters operating within generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). He develops and implements systems and procedures required for effective operations and timely fiscal monitoring and reporting. The candidate is responsible for providing risk management, and insurance needs of the organization.

The Director of Finance advises the Lead Operating Circle in all related matters, and works closely and pro-actively with all Areas, Constituencies, and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to ensure budgetary adherence, fiscal responsibility and success of the organization. The position also supports the organization’s development efforts.

The qualified candidate will:

  • Be committed to helping the organization achieve its mission through sound fiscal management.

  • Possess a high-level of skills in budgeting and financial analysis.

  • Effectively communicate financial information to all stakeholders (i.e. Board of Directors, funders, managers and lead operating circle).

  • Have a working knowledge of non-profit fund accounting, knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise accounting software, CiviCRM, Skype, Google Sheets and InfusionSoft preferred.

  • Skill and experience working in a virtual environment.

Measured competence from the following areas includes:

  • A thorough and thoughtful approach to finance that includes but is not limited to: report writing, budget preparation, forecasting, financial analysis and training.

  • Strong and effective management competencies working with individuals and teams.

  • Ability to work with and educate board members and management staff in the area of finance such that they clearly understand the organization’s financial position.

  • Ability to work with and effectively respond to our auditors requests to ensure a smooth audit process with excellent results.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and comprehension).

  • Ability to write business correspondence and/or directives and make professional and persuasive presentations to a variety of audiences (i.e., Board of Directors, school districts, funders, etc.).

  • Excellent customer service skills in support of the men we serve, donors, and staff.

  • Knowledgeable about computers and networks in order to effectively manage and monitor our systems with the support of our IT consultant

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BA in accounting or equivalent. Minimum of ten years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have successful professional experience in virtual team-based work environments, including an openness to learning the Holacracy method of organizational governance and development of same. Must have broad range of business aptitude in finance and budgeting, coordination of programs or services and in the direct leadership of a business process, and technology and its impact on work.

This is a full-time (M-F), salaried position that includes a health care stipend, appropriate vacation and available FSA.
