Once again, an extreme weather event has stricken one of our areas in an unfathomable way. Last fall the Hurricane in North Carolina and Tennessee. This winter the fires in LA. Prior to that the fires in Hawaii.

And now the disastrous floods that struck the Hill Country of central Texas in the heart of the South Central Area.

As we have all read, the flood struck with devastating rapidness. Perhaps most tragic is it struck late at night with minimal warning, catching far too many unable to respond .

As someone who grew up in Texas, the Hill Country was always a magical place. Summers spent at Boy Scout camp and church camps were the times I looked forward to the most. I have so many fond memories. To see the devastation and loss of life that came so quickly has left me heartbroken.

I know these disasters have impacted so many of you.

I am asking for those of us who can, to support the agencies and groups listed below. There are plenty of volunteers searching the debris for those still missing. What is needed is supplies and food to assist those who survived but lost all and to feed those same folks as well as those volunteers searching for those still missing.

I am grateful for this community of men. I know we show up and support those in need when these moments arise.
